So you have no idea how excited I am that The Home Depot offer Do-It-Herself workshops for women now too. I was invited to attend one earlier this week during the Grand Re-Opening celebrations of The Home Depot (Genesee store in San Diego).
Not only that, but at the end of the evening, they gave me one of the chairs they had been building to bring home. I now have a sample, and instructions to build a second one. It still seems like a daunting process (at least cutting the wood on the correct angles does), but I'm always up for a good challenge.
Here's me ... and my chair ... and the lovely ladies who built it for me.
And if that's not enough, my girlfriend and I won the scavenger hunt around the store and walked away with a couple of gift cards. One would have thought it was my birthday or something ... oh wait, it was. Doesn't every girl spend her birthday learning how to build furniture at The Home Depot? No? Just me then I guess.
I'll be back to share more photos once I've built the second chair and painted them both.
If you want to know how to build an Adirondack Chair, Ana White has a tutorial on YouTube.
The newly reopened Home Depot Genesee now features a 40,000 square foot Outdoor Garden Center, larger kitchen and appliance showrooms, a millwork showroom, an improved Pro-Desk and expanded tool rental.
It also provides workshops and events year-round that the whole family can participate in. Please visit The Home Depot Genesee Facebook page for more information.
