Throughout third grade, Marisol had several class brunches on special days that parents were encouraged to contribute a pot luck dish too. Of course, the school preferred that the dishes be healthy, as mess-free as possible, allergy-friendly, and could be enjoyed while the kids watched a movie or playing games.

During the school year, we were are also not allowed to make treats such as cupcakes for class birthday parties, but depending on the teacher, some allowed a fruit platter or Popsicles for the class to enjoy.

So I’ve got the perfect pot luck dish for you for this school year that kids and teachers will love no matter what occasion you are celebrating.

Tip: Fruit platters are perfect for kids, but in order to have it cut up and ready-to-serve, choose fruits such as stone fruit, citrus, and grapes that won’t brown while you are transporting them or when left at school for an hour or two before serving.

To make a simple fruit platter more interesting, add a dip like this simple honey, cinnamon and yogurt dip that’s perfect for parties, any time of the day.

How To Make Cinnamon, Honey, Yogurt Fruit Dip

  • 2 cups plain yogurt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/4 cup honey

Add ingredients to a bowl and stir to combine. Refrigerate until ready to take to school.
