My husband is the grill master. No really, he is. Although I must admit, I'm becoming pretty grill savvy on my little George Foreman.
Father's Day is just around the corner, so the kids and I painted a special sign to hang behind dad's grill as his gift.
The full tutorial on how to make this can be found on my post at Multiples and More (where I am the monthly craft contributor).

Personalized pencils and a pouch for dad to store them in are an easy Father's Day gift idea that even the littlest hands can help make.
Materials needed:
To make:
Wrap the textured tape around the end of each pencil to add a little color. Cut the end allowing a little overlap.
Next, using the popsicle stick, very carefully rub over the top of the rub-on letters. There are lots of possibilities here. You can send a message to dad, or have each of the children's names on each pencil, or rub small images of things dad loves onto each pencil.
To make the pouch, lay each pencil side by side on a piece of felt that has been doubled over. Allow an extra 6-7mm on each side and the bottom, as well as an extra 3-4cm for the length of the back piece only. Cut your felt. This is where mom needs to help, using the embroidery thread and needle sew the sides and bottom of the pencil pouch together. Using the scissors round out or cut a triangle into the long back piece so that it can be tucked neatly inside the pouch to keep the pencils secure. Or you can add a button, press stud or velcro so that the long piece secures on the outside of the pouch.

Does dad love to hike, camp or go fishing? If he does, he probably has lots of maps. Because let's face it, there are places out in the wilderness where cell phone reception is non-existant, or maybe dad doesn't have a smart phone.
Here is a simple project that can be made for dad for Father's Day.
Supplies:
To make:
Place a bowl over the top of the map and trace around it. Cut out the map. Using mod podge adhere the map to the binder. Once dry, brush another coat of mod podge over the top of the map. This will help to protect it. Use stickers, markers or other embellishments to decorate the remainder of the cover.
Label dividers inside the binder according to dad's favorite regions/states.
Now dad can keep his maps organized for easy access before his next adventure.
Note: I found a great binder at my local Target. It's the greenroom brand which is made with paper containing 100% recycled fiber. The binder also came with dividers and labels. The binders are made with 40% recycled fiber and they use soy-based ink.

Happy Father's Day to my hubby.
As you know I had to share my birthday with Father's Day, so I celebrated a day early. My brother flew into town on Father's Day too - he's been coming and going for the past few weeks. We decided to celebrate at home. We ate way too much food, we rode bikes and we watched a movie. It was a very relaxing day.
We started our late morning with brunch (eggs, bacon, toast, potatoes and mixed vegetables) and mimosa's. In the afternoon whilst watching a movie we moved onto platters of cheese, crackers, fruit and variety of other yummy treats. Later in the evening I cooked bacon-wrapped pork with a warm bean and tomato salad and a mixed lettuce & spinach tossed salad on the side. Followed of course by a giant heart-shaped chocolate chip cookie, my hubby's favorite.
The kids hand-stamped and wrote on their own cards for daddy which was a real treat as he'd never seen Flynn write his own name before. Marisol rode her bike for the very first time and they gave him some new bits and pieces for the grill. After all, he is the grill master of the house.
He even managed to watch a little of the U.S. Open Golf, which after having spent all day at Pebble Beach on Friday being pampered in a corporate box I thought he would have been well and truly tired of. Apparently not though. The man loves his golf.
How did you celebrate Father's Day?

Father's Day is June 20th this year ... apparently I'll be sharing my birthday with my hubby. So I just discovered. Hmmm.
Earlier this week I had the opportunity to attend a scrapbook workshop to make Father's Day scrapbook pages. I haven't scrapbooked in what feels like F.O.R.E.V.E.R so I wasn't about to pass up the opportunity to learn some new tips and put a couple of pages together.
The photographs I used were taken a couple of years ago by the amazingly talented Jaime of Classy Kids Photography. Oh how I wish she lived closer so she could take some new ones for me.
