Teacher Gift: A Helping Hand

It's Friday, which means we are at the end of Teacher Appreciation Week at school.  Today's letter is 'H', which was for homemade gifts.

I like to follow rules to a certain extent, but let's face it, most of my gifts throughout the week were homemade to one degree or another.

So for 'H' I decided to lend a 'Helping Hand'.  The class have reading buddies at a local middle school, and the teacher asked me to come up with a fun craft project using lollipops that the kids could make and give to their reading buddies to thank them for spending so much time reading with them throughout the school year.

So I made these superhero lollipops:

And then I spent some time in the classroom teaching the kids how to make one for each of their reading buddies.

They were really simple to make.

I'm feeling a little like Sesame Street this week.

Today's letter (and teacher appreciation gift) is 'A' for apple. 

I made a fun gift card holder into the shape of an apple.

The Avocado Project (and a giveaway)

A couple of weeks ago I received a delivery of avocados from Avocados from Mexico, and I was challenged to come up with an idea on how to use those avocados in a creative way.

I have to say I almost didn't accept this challenge, it took me a good week of contemplating and dreaming about avocados before I could come up with an idea, but I hate to not accept a challenge, I like being able to push myself and my creativity. 

And, so I bring you:

I had seen so many natural dye's over the Easter period for coloring eggs, so I thought, well why not try to color beads and make a necklace.

This was actually a fairly simple process.

Rusty and Rosy: Homemade Playdough

Did you know that September the 16th was National Play-Doh Day?  Did you celebrate with a day filled with molding, cutting, and rolling like we did?  We didn't have any tubs in the house though so a few days earlier I made some.  I've posted the recipe over at Rusty and Rosy so be sure to head on over there.

Tip:  Keeping the homemade playdough stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator will help it last longer, especially if you live in a warm climate like we do.
