The Blogger Connection: Angry Birds Craft and Game

I would say that Angry Birds are almost on an equal par with LEGO these days. Although the twins still love their LEGO playlists, read their LEGO books and play with their LEGO a lot, they also love to play Angry Birds games on their cell phones (which were our old phones).

We haven't bought them any Angry Birds toys, and I don't know that I intend to, so the kids got creative recently and made their own game.  I had no input in this, none of it was my idea, and I wasn't allowed to help. I simply took a few photos when I saw what they were doing.

How to Host a Family Game Night

Take time out this busy holiday season and have a family game night. Between holiday parties, gift buying, and visiting family and friends, the holiday season can be exhausting. So set a night aside for yummy food and board games with the kids.

The twins love LEGO, especially the little man. So LEGO Minotaurus was a big hit when we opened it up. While the kids and hubby set to work building the game ... that's right, you actually build the game before playing it, how cool is that ... I set to work making hot chocolate and laying out everyone's favorite snacks.

Game night snack suggestions:

• Hot Chocolate with Marshmallows<- this recipe is DELICIOUS!
• Popcorn
• Trail Mix
• Twizzlers
• Dark chocolate covered cranberry and nut bites
• Yogurt and Chocolate covered pretzels

And once the game was built, and the yummy snacks were laid out it was time to play.

Road Trip Games for Kids

I was shopping at Cost Plus World Market yesterday when I came across these fabulous travel bingo boards.

We love going on road trips, and like to do things that are educational along the way so I absolutely love these.  And there's the added bonus of how flat they are and that they stack so neatly.  I have since tracked down the Auto Bingo on Amazon, just be sure that you are buying different cards.  Each topic - Auto Bingo, Traffic Safety Bingo and Interstate Highway Bingo come with different images (so each player isn't working with identical cards) and I found some in different colors too - for example, I found different Auto Bingo cards in green and pink.  They also have a few sets available on Kids Love Travel.

Easter Checkers

Looking for an Easter craft to do with all of those egg cartons that you hoard?  I have just the thing.

Easter Checkers.

This is what you will need to make this fun Easter game for the kids:

• 1 16x16" thick ply wood
• Paint:  Pink (matte & metallic), Yellow (matte & metallic), green and blue
• Egg cartons (24 egg cups)
• Card stock: orange, yellow glitter, pink glitter (2 shades)
• White pom poms
• Elmer's glue spots: thin mini and pop-up medium
• Wiggly eyes
• Black marker
• X-Acto knife, scissors, ruler and paint brushes.

To make the bunnies:

Paint the egg cups with the matte pink, once dry, paint a second coat using the metallic paint.  Cut out ears from the glitter card stock, attach the center using the mini glue spots. Poke a hole in the top of the egg cup with the X-Acto knife and insert the ears, attach to the inside of the egg cup using the mini glue spots.  Attach the pom pom tail using the medium glue spots and the wiggly eyes using the mini glue spots.  Draw on the rest of the facial features using a permanent marker.

To make the chicks:

As per the instructions for the bunnies.  Substitute pink paint for yellow.  Attach the wings using the medium glue spots and the fuzzy top exactly the same way as you did the bunny ears.  Fold a piece of orange card stock in half, cut out small triangles (beak) and attach using mini glue spots.

Now play, play, PLAY!
