I hope my girlfriends don't mind me posting about this ... I'm sure they won't.
Over a couple of months members (and past members) of my multiples group banded together to make a quilt for our beautiful friend Jessica's birthday. She has been going through so much recently while one of her little twins has been battling Stage 4 Neuroblastoma (cancer). We wanted to give her a little something to let her know how much we all loved her. Something that would give her a giant hug when we couldn't. This past weekend a fundraising benefit was held to help the family. 3 members of my multiples group attended (it was also her birthday last week) and they gave her the quilt.
Step 1 in making the quilt.
Each person decorated 2 squares (from each of their twins). Here are mine.

(the right side of this cross-stitch design came from The Cross-Stitcher's Complete Companion: 500 Motifs for Every Occasion
by Crafter's Choice. The left side I made a mirror image of the right side)
Step 2: Sewing the quilt together.
We held a little quilting bee so Tamara, Heather and I could start the sewing of the quilt.
Here are Heather and I sewing away.
The amazing Heather (decked out in her Tuesday t-shirt too) who put together nearly the entire quilt ... I say this because seriously, I sewed together 2 rows, because I couldn't figure out how to thread my sewing machine ha ha and we were so busy eating lunch and playing with the kids that we kind of lost track of time. She is absolutely fabulous.
The finished quilt
Here are 6 of the girls (including me) who contributed to the quilt. They all attended the babies recent birthday bash

The presenting of the quilt
My 3 amazing girlfriends Jane, Dawn and Shannon presented the quilt to Jess over the weekend.

The poem.
Our friends Sharlene & Jenn came up with a beautiful poem to put on the reverse side of the quilt.
Each square a tiny work of art
Both a message and a prayer
Friends bound together
In the journey we all share
Tuesday's child full of strength
Her eyes so full of fire
So many battles fought and won
So many hearts inspired
Though distance may be between us
Our love is always near
Envelop yourself in this quilt of hope
And feel our hugs appear
JESS, WE LOVE YOU HONEY!
