The kids are having a great summer here in San Diego. We've been doing a different activity each day, to not only get them out of the house, but to also explore the area that we live in, and to take full advantage of everything that San Diego has to offer. Here are just a few of the fun things we've done. I'll be sure to share even more when I get a chance.

It has been a few years since we've been to the San Diego Botanic Garden, it was known as the Quail Botanical Garden back then, but with a name change, and a big change in the gardens it is beyond amazing. I had no idea exactly what to expect before I went.
I could go on and on about all of the fabulous things that we saw and did, but instead I will just share a whole lot of photographs I took of the beautiful gardens and the two children's spaces.
Oh and before I forget, Active Duty Military families are admitted free through the Blue Star Museum Program and Frances Hamilton White until September 3rd (we had no idea about this before arriving). Also from September 1st the annual family membership to San Diego Botanic Garden is reduced from $75 to $25 for Active Duty Military families. You have to purchase this deal at the garden though, it's not available on-line.
There is something about small niche blog conferences that I just love. I think it's because they aren't so busy with people buzzing from place to place and you have a chance to actually sit down and talk to like-minded people. I definitely felt that at the recent Elevate Blog Conference. These were my people!
My friend Natalie and I started the day driving to lovely Huntington Beach (with a couple of stops at Starbucks along the way of course).
When we arrived at the conference we jumped straight into playing a game of bingo to get to know one another. What a fantastic ice-breaker. We crafted, we ate (a lot), we packaged up school kits for the Shine Project, we played games, and we listened to brilliant speakers who talked about branding yourself before others brand you, about finding your voice, organization, and we got a few photography tips too. And I left there feeling incredibly inspired.
The conference was organized by:
And the fabulous speakers were:
- Nina Banks – Momma Go Round
- Becki Crosby – Whippy Cake
- Holly Lefevre – 504 Main
- Ashley Hackshaw – Lil Blue Boo
- Kristine McNairy – Lucky Lime Photography
And here are just a few of the photographs that I took while I was there.
As you can imagine being in a room full of incredibly creative women, the venue was decorated beautifully. So much thought went into every tiny detail.
One thing I missed about San Diego while we were living in Monterey for 2 years were the annual summer concerts in the…
