We are still decorating for Halloween. We will probably be finished on Halloween … just in time for trick or treaters, and just in time to remove it all the next day and replace it with a little autumn decor.

One of these days I will be prepared early. But clearly, that won’t be happening this year.

This room is the main room in our house. The room where we all gather. It’s a large open floor plan with our dining table (not the dining room, but the dinner table where we eat most meals) and our kitchen. So it was only fitting that I decorate a room that we spend a lot of our time.

As you can see I tried to keep it within the same color scheme and theme as the formal dining room.

I actually didn’t need to purchase anything to decorate this space, everything that I used I had on hand, even the bags of webs that I hadn’t used last year.

My favorite piece is the skeletal system poster. It’s something I picked up while shopping in Old Towne Orange one weekend last year. I used Mod Podge to adhere it to a piece of board from an old poster frame.

The bats on the walls are paper bats I made for our front door a couple of years ago, and the owl is from the twins’ Harry Potter birthday party. I love cheeky white rat looking at it through the cage. It’s almost teasing it.

There was one new addition, but nothing I purchased. The black pumpkin in the crate is something that we’ve used for many years. It started off as a black cat pumpkin that I painted, then just became a piece of the regular Halloween decor each year following. This year though I decided to add a glittery spider web to it.

You can do almost anything with these. Make them in assorted sizes for hair accessories, table runners, to adhere to your decor, or simply hang them.

Bat craft

You can find the instructions to make my paper bat craft at Multiples and More.

As you can see, I previously used these same paper bats on the front doors of our house.
