I have loads of goodies for you today including a giveaway of Zoe's Room (No Sisters Allowed) and Zoe Gets Ready, a free template and tutorial to make the adorable crown above and there are Zoe activity sheets to download and print too.
Let's start with the Zoe's crown tutorial.
What you need:
- Grey/silver poster board
- Glitter glue - blue and silver
- Glue stick
- Large gem
- Sewing machine (optional)
Step 1: Here is my template for the crown. Click on the image below to open the PDF and print.
Step 2: Use the template to cut out two crowns on a large piece of poster board in grey or silver. Trace around the strip twice to make one long strip and cut it out from the poster board.
Glue each of the crowns to either side of the long strip. The extra weight makes the crown stiff so it stands up and doesn't flop over.
Step 3: Cut a long strip of ribbon about 10 inches longer than the paper strip. Attach it to the crown one of two ways; either glue it down, or like I did sew it. I felt that sewing it would hold it better and stop it from peeling away from the crown.
Tip: Make the crown and package it in a gift box along with the activity and coloring pages and a copy of the book for a new big sister who might be feeling a little apprehensive about having a new sibling to share her things (and her parents) with.
About Zoe's Room (No Sisters Allowed):
Author: Bethanie Deeney Murguia
Zoe rules as Queen of the Universe -- or at least, her room! -- in this sweet, funny companion to Zoe Gets Ready.
Zoe is the Queen of the whole Universe ... but her favorite place in the Universe is her own room, where she hosts tea parties, builds empires out of blocks, and gazes out upon the stars.
Then her parents announce that her little sister Addie is moving in to Zoe's room. Little sisters aren't good at tea parties (too rude), block-building (too clumsy), and starwatching (just plain too young!). So the Queen's new roommate is a royal pain . . . until Zoe discovers that even her smallest subjects can be useful in a storm!
For ages 3-5 years.
Me: "What did you think of the book?"
Me: "What was your favorite part?"
Marisol: "When the sisters were riding on the boat and looking at the stars."
