Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier was released on DVD on September 9th. Watching it with friends and family will be a movie night to remember with these simple food ideas that use just a few key items, including M&M’S®.
Everything that I needed for this party I found at Walmart.
What you need
- M&M’s
- Kettle Corn
- White chocolate morsels
- Sprinkles
- Cake
- Blue or red drink bottles such as Gatorade.
Red, white and blue kettlecorn mix
Red and white striped French fry cartons were filled with kettlecorn. White chocolate morsels, silver sprinkles, along with red and blue M&M’s were mixed in to create a delicious snack mix.
Captain America cake
I had planned on baking a round sheet cake and decorating the top to resemble Captain America’s shield using M&M’s. While in the bakery getting garlic bread for dinner I spotted a vanilla cake. It was very simply decorated with white frosting and under $9. After weighing the cost against the time it would take me to bake and decorate a cake, plus purchase ingredients, I couldn’t pass it up. Using a star-shaped cookie cutter in the center as my guide, I added blue and red M&M’s to the top and it was decorated in no time.
Drinks
We decided on blue Gatorade for the drink. The wrappers are easy to peel off the bottles and don’t leave a sticky residue behind. Using cardstock, one of the kids cut out stars and I attached them to the bottles using twine. A red and white paper straw finished it off nicely.
This party food would be perfect for a Captain America birthday party and a 4th of July party too.
