If you’ll be spending Valentine’s Day with your family, or you want to share a special meal with them the night before, this one is perfect.

The best part is that you can customize the meal to everyone’s likes and dislikes.

If you don’t like our suggestions, pick up your family’s favorite ingredients for the quesadillas such as shredded chicken, bell peppers, onion, tomato, mushrooms, spinach, pear, or mango.

What you need

  • Flour tortillas
  • Shredded cheese: I used Mexican cheese for some and goat cheese for one of the kids
  • Other quesadilla fillings: Carne Asada, red onions
  • Fresh lime
  • Sour Cream
  • Corn chips
  • Salsa
  • Veetee DINE-IN Spicy Mexican Style Rice

Grill the carne asada until cooked through.

While the meat is grilling, use a large heart-shaped cutter to cut the flour tortillas into heart shapes.

As soon as the meat is ready, spray a nonstick griddle, and then cook your quesadillas, flipping after a couple of minutes, until the cheese is melted.

Heat the Veetee Spicy Mexican Style Rice in the microwave for two minutes.

Let everyone help themselves to quesadillas and sides.

Tip: Don’t let the excess flour tortillas from cutting out the hearts go to waste. Cut them into pieces, brush them with melted butter, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and bake in the oven on 350F for about 8 minutes (or until crispy) to make tasty cinnamon chips.

We love the Veetee DINE-IN rice, it’s great for quick meals when the kids get home from school, or for lunch on the weekends, and are so handy to use as sides for dinner. They only take two minutes to heat in the microwave and come in 10 varieties: Wholegrain Brown, Long Grain, Basmati & Wild, Thai Jasmine, Pilau, Spicy Mexican Style, Golden Vegetable, Basmati, Chicken Flavor, Thai Lime & Herb. They are a new product to the US, but are very popular in the UK and have a 12-month ambient shelf life.
