Me: Can you please clean up the mess on the dining room table?
Kid: *grabs the kitchen towel and wipes it up....cut to me in slow motion saying, “Nooooo, not the good kitchen towel, use paper towels.”
What is it with the kids not understanding that the towel hanging up is for display, or for drying hands, not for cleaning up spaghetti sauce, or juice spills? It's like throw pillows, or fancy bathroom towels. Maybe I'll try again when they have grown and moved out of home. So for now, I'll embrace the mess, the stains on everything, and the 'lived in' feel of our home. It doesn't mean I can't still try to make things look nice though, but I'm sure in 6 months I'll be making a new set of these towels.
My last set of kitchen towels were white, and showed everything! So, I thought I'd go with a dark grey set this time and embroider some fun words on them, hopefully to inspire those who use them, or even catch their eye as they wander past them every day. I think subtle reminders and positive, inspirational words posted around the house sometimes inspire the kids to do more than play on electronics and face-time their friends.
We've been planning our big summer road trip for a couple of months now. It's going to be so much fun, just me and two of my children, and we'll be meeting up with my boyfriend for some fun, then road-tripping back home to California again.
So I've been putting together some fun for the kids for the road because I don't want boredom to set in during the long stretches of nothing but desert.
Head on over to MyPrintly to see what goodies I've put inside our travel bags, and to download the printable card to attach to your own surprise bags.
I love seeing my work featured around the web and in print, however, please only use one image (which should be credited and linked to the original post) and do not re-publish recipes or tutorials. Thank you.
