DIY Minecraft Foxy Costume

This handmade Five Night’s At Freddy’s Minecraft Foxy costume is sure to be a hit this Halloween.

Flynn is a little obsessed with Five Night’s at Freddy’s. He has clothing, toys, drink bottles, anything he can get his hands on. So naturally, he wanted a Foxy costume for Halloween. But, not just any Foxy costume, he wanted a Minecraft Foxy one. ‘Cause why make things easy on this mum who knows nothing about Minecraft or Five Night’s at Freddy’s … mostly because there’s a lot of uh-huh, oh really, you don’t say, as I sit through hours of conversation about both.

I’m always up for a challenge though. So this is what we have …

I’m not going to lie, this is a little time consuming to make, BUT it’s very VERY easy.

What You Need To Make a Minecraft Foxy Costume

  • 2 tri-fold display boards
  • paint and paint brushes
  • hot glue
  • Minecraft cardboard head
  • Scissors
  • Ruler and marker

The Minecraft head comes flat-packed so you simply need to assemble it.

To make the body though, you need to follow the directions I put together for our LEGO Lord Vampyre costume. Just make it a little more square and less angled like the LEGO shape.

Next, draw up a grid on the body similar to the one that already appears on the Minecraft cardboard head, then start painting. Just go for it, being mindful of the facial features such as the patch over the eye, the teeth, and then on the body making a lighter/tan section for the underside of ‘the fox’.

So once you have the body and head assembled the time-consuming part just comes in the painting the tiny squares. You can get a little crazy with mixing colors though, I made different shades of grey, brown, taupe, along with different shades of reds.

Tip: I spray painted the body plain red to begin with, that way I didn’t have to paint all the squares, just painted over sections of them.

We tested it out at a local fall festival this weekend and it was a HUGE hit. Flynn had so much fun entertaining everyone by hiding inside the costume and making the head spin, had families coming up to him asking him to pose for photos with their kids, and had other kids telling him his costume was the coolest and parents asking if I’d made it so they could make one too. He was THRILLED! You can see a few photos over on Instagram and for the remainder of today at least there’ll be videos on my Insta Stories which I’ll movie a few over to my highlight reels later today.

It is really time consuming but it’s worth it. It’ s really a nice costume and the kids will definitely love it. I’m thinking of putting colored paper cut out instead of painting.
