If you’ve been to Kentucky, then chances are you’ve tried a Kentucky Hot Brown. Also known as the Louisville Hot Brown, this dish was created at the Brown Hotel in Louisville in 1926.

For those who have never tried the Hot Brown, it is a baked open-faced sandwich with turkey breast, bacon, and Roma tomatoes, with a creamy Mornay sauce. There have been variations of this dish over the years that include different cheeses and garnishes. The original recipe though can be found on The Brown Hotel’s website.

The holidays this year are going to be different than those of years past. Being close to family and friends in celebration and thanks has never been more important.

So, we decided to make our own variation of this local dish for the holidays that transforms the Kentucky Hot Brown into a delicious dip. We added it to a charcuterie board and surrounded it with some of the delicious toppings used over the years such as pimentos, tomatoes, mushrooms, and Texas toast for dipping.
