They are 7. Can you believe it? I can't. Why does time have to go by so quickly?
Miss M woke up first on Wednesday morning. On her own. Without me pulling the blankets off and her squirming back under them a dozen times.
She walked out into the hallway and looked at me sitting at my desk and said "It's my birthday, am I bigger? Pick me up and see. I'm bigger aren't I?"
I humoured her a little and picked her up and told her she sure felt bigger. She asked for presents, but I told her that we needed to wait for her brother to wake up so she should probably get dressed while we waited. We walked into her room together and opened her closet. I asked her what she would like to wear. Her response:
"But mummy, aren't I bigger now? I think I am, and now that I am, I need a whole new wardrobe because nothing here is going to fit."
She is SO my daughter.
While she dressed, I went downstairs to finish making their breakfast. I suspect she tiptoed into Flynn's bedroom and woke him up because he normally needs a lot of convincing to crawl out from under the covers in the morning too.
They came downstairs and I had set their presents for each other on the dining table so they could exchange them over breakfast.
I made a batch of pancakes with freshly whipped cream and sprinkles. They weren't hungry.
Thankfully by lunchtime, they were hungry and they were thrilled with their special lunch.
