It's official.  I finished Course 1 of the Wilton Cake Decorating at Michaels.  I even got a Certificate of Merit to prove it.  Don't laugh, I may just frame it and hang it next to my Budweiser Honorary Beermaster certificate.

I'm really looking forward to Course 2 beginning in March.

Angelina Ballerina Cake

There is a little story behind this cake.

It all begin with my searching for a cake pan in the shape of a four-leaf clover for St. Patrick's Day. Unable to locate one in any local stores I decided I would just make the cake I'd envisaged, all by myself.  Having taken 3 cake decorating classes went to my head a little apparently and I thought I could just do this.  Obviously my cake cutting skills are not up to par yet, so my four-leaf clover very quickly became a mouse based on Marisol's favorite dancing mouse Angelina Ballerina.

Someday I’ll tell you about when I made a wedding cake in the middle of West Texas in July with no air conditioning. Oh- and it was buttercream frosting. 🙂

I saw this as I was scrolling down in my Google Reader and at first, all I could see were two pink clad mounds. I was quite surprised when it turned out to be a mouse. Cute mouse though.
