These Jell-O orange pumpkins are the perfect Halloween treat for kids and so easy to make.

UPDATE: This craft project was initially created for a website by the name of Kidzui, however that website no longer exists.

I just love this time of year, I think from now until after the holiday season is when I feel the most creative.  The first half of the year I tend to focus on DIY and food, over the summer the travel bug hits us, then later in the year the holidays are all about the fun and being creative.  Do you tend to do different things throughout the year and as the seasons change, or is it just me?

I'm over at Kidzui today with fun Orange Jelly Pumpkins.  Kids are going to love these.

Orange Jelly Pumpkins for Halloween
Aren't these so fun?

What you need:

  • oranges
  • orange Jell-O
  • black fondant, or pre-made Jack O'Lantern faces that you can find in the cake/cookie decorating aisle in most grocery stores for Halloween.

Make Jell-O according to the package directions but do not refrigerate.

Cut the oranges in half, and then remove the center from them (pop them in the blender to make fresh orange juice).

Fill each half of the oranges with Jell-O and place on a tray – they sit really well in muffin tins and this prevents them from rolling over and the Jell-O spilling out before it has a chance to set.

Refrigerate until set.

DO NOT add the fun Jack O'Lantern faces until right before serving as the black will bleed into the orange.

Enjoy!

One day I will come out there to visit.  I'd love to experience fall somewhere other than California, we just don't get the beautiful colors out here that everyone else seems to enjoy.
