A couple of weeks ago friends invited us to join them for a play at The New Children's Museum. It had been a few years since I had taken the kids there so we jumped at the chance. I thought it might be a little busy on the weekend, but we parked right out the front and didn't have to wait to participate in any of the fun activities throughout the museum.
As soon as we arrived the kids ran outside to play with clay, and paint a car.
Then they ran off through a big maze, and played on the slide while they waited for an art class to begin.
In the class the kids were shown how to make letters using tape and then paint over them with watercolors to create fun messages. They were given the option of making the letters all the same size, or have them run from big to small, or small to big.
Here is their finished artwork.
We then ventured upstairs where they blew bubbles, climbed the climbing walls, and played in some of the other fun play spaces.
Of course I forgot my camera this day (that's becoming a bit of a bad habit lately), so I apologize for the cell phone pics.
If you haven't had a chance to visit The New Children's Museum with your kids, now is the perfect time. The San Diego Museum Council have launched Museum Month once again. Throughout February you can visit 42 museums in San Diego using a free Museum Month Pass available at Macy's stores that entitles you to half-off admission prices at all participating museums.
You can find out more details including a full list of museums participating (including The New Children's Museum) on the San Diego Museum Council website.

We love the New Children’s Museum! Since my girls are little, they can’t get enough of the Barnyard Dance room, and the bubbles! I’m not brave enough to let them paint the car, yet…
