In Australia, fairy bread is a traditional treat served at a child's birthday party.  Of course, I live in America, so it isn't a staple item here.  Since moving here though I've adapted it for a variety of holiday's so the kids still get a special treat from home.

Valentine's Day Fairy Bread

Normally fairy bread is white bread (I used whole wheat for this recipe) with butter or margarine covered in hundreds and thousands.  I like to use cookie cutters though to make shapes that the kids will love and that fit the theme of the holiday or event.   My friend Anissa had the idea to use Nutella as a base for her daughter's birthday party last year so I borrowed that idea from her to use this Valentine's Day.

You may also remember the butterfly bread I made a couple of years ago.  Yet another variation on the traditional fairy bread.
