Marisol changes her style every year or two.
This year she only wants to wear shorts. She will pair just about anything with them; sneakers, boots, sandals, cute tops, t-shirts, or layers. As long as she’s wearing shorts.
She still owns a few skirts and dresses, mostly because I still insist on buying them, but rarely wears them during her current phase.
Last year she would only wear skirts and dresses and no matter how often I bought shorts or jeans she refused to wear them.
Shirt: Justice | Top: Cami Top (Children’s Place) | Shorts: Arizona (JC Penney) | Shoes: Keds Women’s Taylor Swift Champion Sneaker $49.99 (Famous Footwear)
This is one of her favorite outfits right now. She loves to layer tops, and now that the weather is warmer is opting for sneakers instead of boots.
She had a visit with her dad recently and on the day he was arriving to pick her up I was packing her suitcase. As I put her favorite black sneakers in I noticed the biggest hole in the bottom of them. I couldn’t believe she hadn’t told me, and that I hadn’t noticed it before. I didn’t have time to go and get her a new pair so promised her that I’d take her shopping as soon as she returned home.
Of course in keeping that promise we headed to Famous Footwear once she came home. As soon as we walked in she spotted Taylor Swift shoes (as she calls them) on a display and decided she HAD to have them.
She may have even asked in the store if I could use my Aussie accent influence to get Taylor Swift to sign them again, in person. My Aussie accent may have others saying that I sound cool and ask me to ‘just say something, anything’, but I’m pretty sure I have no influence over Taylor Swift signing your new shoes, sorry.
These shoes were in the women’s section, not the children’s. I quickly learned though that she can fit into a women’s size 6. How can that be? How can this sweet little girl be wearing women’s sizes? She’s only 8. That’s only three sizes smaller than me.
On the bright side if she continues growing like this I’ll be able to justify buying her cute shoes and will be able to ‘borrow’ them.
But, this means she’ll also be able to borrow my shoes …
