The best Barbie gift guide for girls who love to craft and be creative.

The weather is getting cooler here and I’m having a lot of trouble getting my little lover of summer into cool weather clothes. She’s a t-shirt and skirt girl all the way. So in order to encourage her to wear warmer, longer clothes I had to get a little creative.

Before I show you what we did though I want to share a round-up of fun Barbie gifts for creative little girls that I put together. Miss M loves Barbie, but she really doesn’t need more dolls; she has 15, most of which my mum picked up from a yard sale in Australia and sent over. So I wanted to get a little more creative and give her options for gifts that allow her to bring out her creative side too.  Of course, she already has the Barbie Photo Fashion Doll.

So, as I mentioned above, Miss M turns up her nose at anything that she deems not cute enough to wear.  So I went to Target while she was at school and picked up plain long-sleeved t-shirts that were only 3 for $18. When she came home we pulled the stencils out of the Barbie Fashion Design Sketch Portfolio and together we came up with some fun designs and painted each shirt using fabric paint.

The shirts came out great and she is thrilled with them, especially because we used glitter fabric paint on them.  It’s all about the glitter around here.

Of course, she insisted that her new Barbie Photo Fashion Doll take a few shots too.

These would make a great holiday gift for little girls, especially if you packaged up the Barbie Photo Fashion Doll with a copy of the Barbie Fashion Design Sketch Portfolio, a few plain shirts, and fabric paint.

Wouldn’t this be a fun craft project for a Barbie Party too, the best part is that it could double as the party favor.

What you would need:

  • Shirts for each of the party guests
  • Barbie™ Fashion Design Sketch Portfolio (there are 5 stencil sheets inside)
  • Barbie™ Photo Fashion Doll
  • Fabric paint – don’t forget the glitter fabric paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • Cardboard to place inside each shirt when painting – cutting up cardboard boxes or cereal boxes would work perfectly for this.

Once each party guest has decorated their shirt hang them on a clothesline or rope using clothes hangers to dry.

After they are dry, set up a photo booth area using a white tri-fold display board, and then take a photo of each of the guests wearing their new shirt using the cool effects on the Barbie™ Photo Fashion Doll.

I definitely had to help her, fabric tends to shift as it's being painted so I held the stencil firmly in place while she painted.  With the bow top though I did the black outline for her around the edge of the bow.

These are SO cute! My oldest would LOVE this! Was it something that your kiddo was able to help with or mostly Mom? My daughter is always wanting to do the whole thing without any (or much) help. These look very fun, thanks for sharing!

Great ideas for clothing for my kids. You could also do Ken themed clothing.
