Looking for a practical food gift to give? Put ingredients and a recipe into a slow cooker. This is perfect for any occasion.

This gift idea inspired by Cooking Light magazine is perfect for siblings, best friends, and parents. It also makes a great house warming. Or fill the slow cooker with soup mix and other items for a get-well gift. If you are feeling extra generous this holiday season, give it to a low-income family who could use a little extra holiday cheer.
I don’t know about you, but I love using my slow cooker over the winter months. The smell of hot food wafting through the house and not having to prepare a last-minute meal. We can enjoy hot comfort food as a family because it’s ready when we are.
I found a recipe inside Cooking Light magazine for Hearty Oats & Grains, and coupled with a slow cooker that I found in the magazine I thought this would make the perfect holiday gift. All I had to do was fill the slow cooker with non-perishable items from Safeway (for the recipe) along with a gift card to purchase any other items needed to make this breakfast amazing. Couldn’t you imagine waking up in the morning to the smell of breakfast wafting through the house, hot, and ready to enjoy?
Don’t forget to throw in a little extra holiday reading with my favorite magazines Sunset and Real Simple.
