It's not secret that my favorite meal of the day is brunch. At brunch almost anything goes, you've got a combination of breakfast and lunch, cocktails can be enjoyed and if you are like me you feel like you aren't inhaling quite as many calories because it's only one meal right, not two. Yes, I will justify eating everything on the brunch table.
Mimosa's and Bloody Mary's have been a staple for me at brunch for many years, but in an effort to mix it up a little, and because I had some delicious grapefruit just sitting in my fruit bowl I decided to whip up a few new cocktails that are more than brunch worthy.
As you can see from the photo above I made two versions of this cocktail, one with lemon and one with the yummy Sweet Scarlett's red grapefruit, only because I knew I would love the lemon version because lemon cocktails are generally my favorite, but it turns out I actually loved the grapefruit in this one even more.
- 2oz Voveti Prosecco
- 1 oz Gin
- 1 oz Simple Syrup
- 1 oz fresh lemon or grapefruit juice
I mean how good do these lemons and red grapefruit look? So yummy. I couldn't resist but make a cocktail with them.
I generally start with the simple syrup and fresh citrus juice in the glass, mix it just a little, top with the Gin and then top with the prosecco. If you are using larger than standard champagne glass (like I did above) then double up on the ingredients.
Add a swirl of rind and top with fresh edible flowers to give your cocktail a fresh spring feel.
