These bee headbands are the perfect addition to a bee-themed or nature party, or as an addition to a bee costume for Halloween.
Instead of party hats for the twins’ upcoming teddy bear picnic birthday party, I made these adorable bumble bee headbands along with bear headbands for the kids to choose from instead of party hats.
With Halloween just around the corner, we can never have enough costumes and accessories to wear to parties and trick-or-treating.
Bee headbands
Supplies
- Black headbands – I purchased headbands on Amazon – 36 for $14.99
- Thin black feather boa
- Black pipe cleaners
- Gold glitter glue
- Hot glue gun
Instructions
Put a small dot of hot glue just off-center at the top of the headband and wrap about 1 inch of the black pipe cleaner around. Do the same on the other side.
Attach a small amount of the black feather boa to the top of the headband – again, using the hot glue.
Curl the ends of the pipe cleaners.
Dab a small spot of gold glitter glue to the tip of the ‘antenna’.
Tip: Want to make a ladybug headband instead? Just add a red glitter glue instead of gold.

Okay. I'm not 100% sure if they have giraffe print, but Michaels (and I think Beverly's too) have a new line of animal print felt. I would start by seeing if they have a giraffe print. If not, check for a fleece fabric. Last resort, cream or white felt and brown fabric paint. Or you can order on-line, but have to order by the yard: http://www.hancockfabrics.com/Brown-Giraffe-Print-on-Felt-Fabric-Printed-Felt_stcVVproductId92387301VVcatId551411VVviewprod.htm. Then instead of using this bee idea, I would be more inclined to use the teddy bear ear tutorial https://www.tonyastaab.com/2010/10/teddy-bear-ears.html, but make the ear more pointed. Then I would get brown pipe cleaners – without having made these I'm just going off the top of my head here, but there are thicker, fluffier ones that I've seen at craft stores (if you can't find them just use the regular ones, but you might want to twist a couple together to make them thicker). I would wind attach them (wind them around) the head band and then roll the top (similar to spiral for a snail, nice and tight). So you would have 2 of those in-between the ears. You could tie a couple of pink bows onto the base of them (which would help hide where they are wound on and make them more girlie).
