Make felt animal masks inspired by characters from The Wild Life movie including Eli the porcupine, Carmello the chameleon, Mak the parrot, and Kiki the kingfisher.
With Halloween coming up, these are the perfect addition to handmade costumes for the kids.

Felt animal masks
These are the four masks we made: Epi (the porcupine), Carmello (the chameleon), Mak (the parrot), and Kiki (the kingfisher)
All of the masks use the same basic template, which you can download and print here.
Supplies
- Felt (assorted colors)
- Embroidery thread and needle
- Felt glue
- Elastic
Instructions
Cut out each of the pieces from the template and pin them to felt and cut them out.
Using embroidery thread, begin assembling each mask. I also dabbed a little felt glue between the bird’s feathers to hold them together, as well as underneath beaks and noses.
Note: When cutting the main template piece, cut two for each mask, you can use one as a backing for the mask, and sew all of the pieces onto the front section, and then sew the elastic into the seams when joining the back and front together.
Machine sewing your masks will make the process much quicker, but because I was making a few and was experimenting as I was going and switching colors a lot I decided to hand-sew each of mine.
The kids absolutely loved these masks.
