Our house experienced it's 5 minutes of fame today when it was transformed into a film set.  From 8:30 until 5pm there was a hustle and bustle of actors, film crew, make-up artists, caterers and even an ambulance parked in my driveway.

Why did all of these people take over my home?  Well I'd volunteered my house (okay there was payment – but I didn't know about that until a couple of days ago) to a Producer who is making a video for law enforcement to bring awareness to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).  It was too great a cause for me not to get involved.  They were filming at a number of locations around the area – a hospital, an apartment and my home which was transformed into a home daycare center

Here's a few shots that I snapped on my Blackberry when nobody was looking ha ha

The poor little Hollywood doll baby that passed away 🙁

So what did we all do while filming was going on.  Well Jay took the babies outside to play for a little while so I could help out getting whatever the crew needed.  Once they were set up and ready to start shooting we went for a long walk.  I stopped by Starbucks for a coffee and then we wandered into the grocery store for a couple of containers of fruit salad for the babies which Jay fed to them while I had my nails done and my Albert Einsteins waxed.  Then we wandered home just in time for Pick Up Stix to be delivered for lunch.  The babies had fallen asleep on our walk home so I popped them into our beds seeing as their bedrooms were being used for filming and for the next couple of hours we hung out chatting with the crew and actors and watching the filming until the little ones woke up.  Then it was off outside for a big play until filming wrapped up and everyone had left the building.

Marisol and Flynn absolutely LOVE their new cubby house which was very generously given to us by a military family who live around the corner and will be moving overseas this summer and didn't want to take it with them.  I wish I had gotten a photo of them in it together.  They took their snacks and drinks in there, set them up on the table and then sat on the little benches and had a little picnic.  It was so cute but this was before I'd brought my camera outside and I had to wait until they'd finished filming a scene to run back in and grab it, which of course was too late to get the shot 🙁

Cool Tonya! I am one of those obsessed moms that are so afraid of SIDS that we spend a fortune on breathing mats for our kids to sleep on. So good on you for doing your part.

Gibson Twins July 17, 2008 - 5:00 pm

Tonya, you had me in serious hysterics laughing so hard this morning at your comment on my toddler post. I am printing that one out for the fridge haha!Marisol looks so cute inside her little gazebo! That thing is awesome, I want one now!! We got a playhouse at a yardsale for $10 but I’m so incredibly lazy that I won’t put it together so waiting til the weekend when I can add it to the honey do list :)And the trampoline?? Are you kidding me?? I have been wanting one of those for the kids because I think they belong in a zoo rather than a civilized residential location (ie home). Yes, I sooooo need that too!Have a great weekend!

SIDS is a great cause. While my dad was in the Navy (Stationed in CA) back in the 70s my brother died of SIDS and my parents were treated very badly because people were not aware that such a thing existed. They were treated like criminals. They thought my parents had killed their son. Thanks for doing your part to make people aware of this tragic thing that can happen.Jenny

Oh fun to have them use your house and for such a great cause. I love the little house the kids got!

Christy July 20, 2008 - 5:00 pm

That is sooo cool! Only you would have something like this go on in your house. I would love to do something like that but would probably be too lazy to clean my house good enough to have people film something in it!
