Spring, (and of course summer) are fast approaching, and so as the snow melts and the weather warms up, we are looking to lighten up our meals. To get away from the fall harvest of squash and pumpkin, and the winter soups and Sunday roasts.
If you are entertaining at home, one of the easiest meals you can make is pasta. We mix up pasta dishes in our house at least twice a week because it's something that is guaranteed to not get the side-eye glances from the kids accompanied by whining, of course. Plus, pasta bars are often a huge hit for guests who are able to choose what they’d like to mix in, and of course it allows you to offer gluten free or other allergy-friendly options.
One of the most important things when entertaining, is to pair your dishes and beverages. There are so many varietals of wine on the market, and not all are going to pair well with the dish you are serving.
Are you a middle sister? I'm not, I'm the big sister. The one who got into trouble because I was the oldest and my parents were still feeling their way around setting limits and boundaries. My sister though is the middle sister. She's the one who is perfect at everything she does. The phrase 'how does she do it' was made just for her. And looking back, I think rules were created because of people like me. I wasn't exactly the easiest child. I may have climbed out the window to go to my boyfriends, may have attended clubs underage and dated a musician, and quite possibly ditched school (before I dropped out) in favor of watching soap operas or swimming in a friends pool … or sometimes hanging out at a local hair salon where the dreamiest hairdresser worked. I'm not confirming or denying that any of that took place though. My sister though didn't drop out of school and went onto college, and now works in government, has two amazing children and still looks like she's barely 18 – even though I know she's only a couple of years younger than me. But she marches to the beat of her own drum, she's not a rule follower, she's a bit of a rebel and that's why I love her.
So as you can see when it came to choosing a Middle Sister wine to feature here it was only natural that I choose the Rebel Red.

This grilled mac and cheese with bacon sandwich is perfect for busy weeknights and weekend fun, and will be loved by kids (and big kids too).
I'm a big fan of making a meal that can be used over two days, but in different ways.
Not in a Food Network Chopped kind of way (although the contestants on that show are pretty inspiring), but in a New TraDish practical (everyone can do it), I'm going to make a dish and use it in two different ways by freezing half of the ingredients and using those later kind of way.
So here's a simple one for you.
What you need:
The perfect essential items from Pier 1 Imports for entertaining in your backyard all summer long.
These pesto and ricotta stuffed shells with a turkey meat sauce are the perfect weeknight family dinner. Make one for you and deliver one to a local family.
This delicious roasted tomato pesto recipe is perfect for using on everything from pasta, to soup, flatbreads, and pizza. Plus, you can freeze some for later too.
