Will you be grilling this Father’s Day? We most likely will be.
We grill most weekends over the summer; the kids play in the pool as soon as an opportunity arises, and seeing as we are out there supervising, grilling is a natural choice.
We grilled hamburgers a couple of weeks ago, and often grill seafood, so to mix things up a bit, our most recent outdoor dinner was gourmet sausages.
- Aidells Mango Smoked Chicken Sausage
- 2 tbs honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tsp chopped garlic
- 2 tsp lime juice
- King’s Hawaiian Hot Dog Buns
- 1 cup corn kernels
- 1 cup fresh pineapple (finely chopped)
- 6 slices bacon
- 1/2 cup cilantro (chopped)
- 1 tsp chopped ginger
For sausages: Combine soy sauce, garlic, lime juice and honey in a bowl. Cut angled slices into each of the sausages, but don’t cut all the way through, just to about halfway. Brush the sausages with the honey mixture, cover and refrigerate for about 1 hour.
Remove the sausages from the refrigerator and grill until heated through and grill marks form on the sausages.
For topping: Grill or fry the bacon – I prefer to grill it on my smaller indoor grill. Once cooled roughly chop it into smaller pieces. Put a little water in a pot and cook the corn kernels. Drain the corn and add the ginger to the pot, returning it to low heat. Add the corn and pineapple until the pineapple is warmed. Add the bacon and then right before you are ready to serve, add the cilantro.
Serve your gourmet sausage and topping in a King’s Hawaiian Hot Dog Bun.
