Making a quilt for friends is such a wonderful gift.  With each square you can see the love that has gone into it.

You may remember that we did this one for Jessica with thanks to my amazing friend Heather who put it together.

I had the opportunity to be involved in another quilt recently for a friend.

We gave it to her over the weekend … well the other girls gave it to her.  I was late, as usual *sigh*.

Here is the square I decorated

Here are a few ideas:

Make a quilt as a baby shower gift.  Have each person going to the baby shower decorate a square.  It would make a great party activity.

Decorate squares with your children to give a one-of-a-kind quilt to a family member.

Host a quilting party with friends to give a quilt to somebody who needs a little cheering up.  Maybe they have a sick family member.  Maybe they are just going through a rough patch.  Maybe they have a family member deploying.

That is a beautiful quilt. My two friends secretly got together and made a quilt for me last year. It is the best gift I have ever recieved.

My mom did something similar for me for my first baby shower. I never got around to making the quilt because I was so overwhelmed with the baby when she came and finishing graduate school. When my mom retired she took a quilting class so she could put it all together for me and it’s gorgeous! I was doubtful that it was ever going to get made otherwise. I don’t know how you have time to do so many awesome sewing crafts!
